On the occasion of the sorrowful centenary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe, and within the framework of the revival of the Pan-Ionian Games, which promote sports, literature, and the arts, a student literary competition is being organised with the theme:

“Travelling through Time and Encountering the Culture of Asia Minor!”

The aim of the competition is to engage secondary and high school students with the cultural heritage of Ionia and Asia Minor, to encourage their participation in public life, and to cultivate their creative writing skills, empathy, and imagination. Students are invited to participate with a short story or poem by submitting their entries by 15 October 2022 to [email protected]. They have the opportunity to mentally travel to any time period to meet and be inspired by people, places, and ideas related to Asia Minor. In their works, if they wish, they can express thoughts on issues of equality and diversity.

The following awards and honours will be given for each category (poems & short stories):

First Prize: Participation in the Pierce Leadership Academy (https://pla.pierce.gr/el/): 3 weeks with teenagers from around the world, filled with lessons, workshops, simulations, constructive discussions, and educational excursions.
